Consolidation of the embankments of the Arc river
The work concerns the consolidation of the embankments to protect the Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne basin from the risk of flooding and, at the same time, to prepare the platform that will house the other structures of the cross-border section of the Lyon-Turin.
The land will be raised by approximately 6 metres, using as backfill 25,000 tons of excavated material from the cut and cover tunnel and Saint-Martin-la-Porte construction sites.
The companies involved

The work, which started at the end of 2018 and is estimated to cost approximately € 6.8 million, is being undertaken by a grouping of companies consisting of Vinci Construction Terrassement (lead partner), Cofex GTM Travaux spéciaux, and TP Manno.

The new electrical substation
The site will also host the new train power electrical substation, replacing the former one that has been demolished to build the railway interconnection work of the new line at Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne.
