HIA: construction sites have not changed health parameters in the Susa valley

The health of the Susa Valley is confirmed to be consistent with trends in the province of Turin and in Piedmont, with no variations related to the presence of the construction sites of the new Lyon-Turin railway line. This is the result of the 2025 Health Impact Assessment analysis, presented this morning during an institutional meeting at the Piedmont Region headquarters. The results are a combination of health and environmental monitoring data concerning the construction sites of the project, processed by the Department of Science and Public Health of the Turin University as part of the technical steering table of the HIA. The Steering Table, a technical body responsible for overseeing and supporting the HIA, meets periodically and is coordinated by the Piedmont Region with the participation of TELT, Arpa, Asl TO3 and the technical representative appointed by the municipalities where the Lyon-Turin construction sites are present. Prof. Zocchetti of the University of Turin said:

The assessment we conducted involved two categories of toxicological risk: carcinogenic and non-carcinogenic. For both, the values are well below acceptable levels. In addition, the epidemiological impact was investigated with a projection over time. The expected cases for the main related diseases (lung cancer, cardiovascular diseases, ischaemic diseases) were calculated by combining environmental and health data. Once again, the analysis of the different phases from 2012 to today shows an impact index tending towards zero.
